Romania Emerges as a Thriving Hub for Online Gaming

1X2 Network, a well-known game creator and provider, has teamed up with Skywind Group to introduce its wide array of games to the Romanian market. This alliance demonstrates a wider pattern of growth within the Romanian gaming sector. For example, Thunderkick, a top slot provider, recently joined forces with Skywind to increase its footprint in the country, underscoring Romania’s rising importance as a major market.

Recent months have seen a surge in collaborations between operators and providers seeking to establish or bolster their presence in Romania. As an illustration, Octoplay partnered with Superbet in mid-December, BGaming joined forces with WinBet in early January, and Imagine Live recently announced plans to open a cutting-edge live casino studio in Bucharest, the nation’s capital.

Ana-Maria Baciu, a legal expert in intellectual property and participant in the Romanian National Association of IP Attorneys, elucidated that Romania has emerged as a hub of operations within the online gambling industry. From 2016 onward, regulatory bodies have bestowed approximately 475 Class 2 permits to a variety of vendors in the gaming domain. A substantial segment of these permits, ranging from 140 to 150, were allocated specifically to software and game developers, with roughly 25 granted in 2023 alone. She noted that even with modifications to permit costs in October 2023, the market has sustained its prosperous trajectory.

This alliance with Skywind Group holds particular importance. Christopher Reed, an Account Executive at 1X2 Network, conveyed that this cooperative endeavor furnishes access to several of the most sought-after digital platforms in Romania. Skywind Group is renowned for its collaborations with leading developers in the sector, and they can now incorporate 1X2 Network’s pioneering slots and games into their offerings. He underscored that Romania has constituted a pivotal market for 1X2 Network since securing their Romanian permit in 2022, and this partnership with Skywind Group empowers them to further amplify their footprint within the nation.
