Elevating Ethical Wagering Standards: Crown Resorts’ Sydney Fate Hangs in the Balance as Senet Introduces New Compliance Accreditations

The Land Down Under is getting strict about elevating the standards for ethical wagering.
The New South Wales gaming regulator, the Independent Liquor & Gaming Authority (ILGA), declared that Crown Resorts might have its Sydney gaming establishment resume operations as soon as late April if it adheres to their regulations. This follows a report by former Supreme Court Justice Patricia Bergin that deemed the company unsuitable to hold a casino license. ILGA Chair Philip Crawford stressed that it’s completely on Crown Resorts to demonstrate they’ve reformed and can regain suitability. The regulatory body will collaborate with the company to address the report’s recommendations.
Following the Crown Resorts inquiry and cautions from the NSW Crime Commission regarding potential risks to the Australian financial system, Australian gaming law, regulatory, and compliance advisory group, Senet, revealed the introduction of new compliance accreditations, Senet Assure and Senet Assure Premium. These accreditations aim to safeguard both gaming providers and patrons from gambling-related detriment and illicit financial activities.
“These certifications are attainable only by operators who can prove they uphold the utmost levels of diligence,” clarified Senet’s Regulatory and Gaming specialist Paul Newson. He noted that the certifications allow industry frontrunners to demonstrate their commitment to the highest benchmarks of responsibility, exceeding expectations to protect clients and personnel, and cultivating a workplace environment of compliance and social consciousness.
